Fashion plate from 1856 showing the "stovepipe" top hat in both black and silver grey. Their cravats are tied in small bows which was in style in several countries in the mid-1850's. They wear gloves of a dull yellow color, fashionable for several decades perhaps because it is a natural color to which to tan the leather.
