This daguerreotype from 1852 shows a young Scottish gent in a waistcoat with a lot of color and texture. He shows quite a bit of white shirt cuff, although if he pulled his sleeves down to unwrinkle them it would probably disappear. The slope of his shoulders and narrowness of the sleeve tell us the coat could be a decade or two older than the portrait, or perhaps this man just prefers the Romantic style.
