This waistcoat was worn by the groom at his wedding in 1845 in Pennsylvania. The photo of the back shows the gloss of the brown polished cotton, which has faded in some of our other waistcoat examples. Also notice the tie across the lower back, to adjust the fit snugly; this detail is leftover from the 1830s.
