1850s Black Silk Waistcoat
This waistcoat from the 1850s
is double breasted, with buttonholes
symmetrically placed so that it can button right over left or left over
right. Each button has the blue polka dot centered in it, and this
waistcoat also has an unusually large pocket on the inside, about the
size to hold a wallet or envelope. Notice on the closeup the double
lines of stitching that reinforce the welt pocket.
