This frame is stamped
"Anson," the daguerreotypist whose gallery was the most prolific,
employing 15 photographers. The gent wears a suit of a light color and
it is forced closed over his waistcoat, as though to hide someting. The
style of evening gown on his lady, with the short straight sleeves, was
in fashion in the mid 1840's, but this daguerreotype must date 1853 or
later because that's when Anson set up shop on Broadway.
